Father Larry Hendel was appointed pastor of Saint Anthony parish on July 1, 2006, the 5th official pastor of the parish. He is a native Californian, born at Hamilton AFB, the son of Larry and Anita Hendel. He has three brothers and one sister, and the uncle of two nieces and three nephews.


After attending a variety of schools in Marin County, Father Larry went to Saint Patrick’s seminary in 1970 and was ordained to the priesthood on May 21, 1977. Previously he served at Saint Elizabeth for his deacon year, Saint Victor, Saint Julie, Saint Joseph of Cupertino as a parochial vicar before being named pastor of St. Cyprian parish.

After seven years he was transferred to Saint John Vianney parish and then spent 18 months on active duty as a Chaplain for the California Army National Guard serving a tour of duty on the peace keeping mission in Kosovo, KFOR 6B, concluding that tour in 2006. Now retired from the Guard, he is pleased to serve the people of Saint Anthony Parish, fostering a community of faith that desires to grow in love of the Lord and provide service to others.
